Our Story

Since 1955

Named for our grandmother, Shakuntala

Shakuntala Sarees carries the name of our grandmother, Shakuntala, born in 1955.

She raised six daughters and a son, and she held the family together through hard times. She never let difficult circumstances decide who her children would become. Her strength, patience and quiet determination are the reason we are here today.

This brand is our way of honouring her. Every saree we choose carries a little of what she taught us: grace, resilience and care for the people around you.

What we look for in every saree

  • Colour: rich, true tones and contrast borders that flatter.
  • Zari: gold and silver borders, buttis and pallus with fine detail.
  • Drape: sarees that fall beautifully and are easy to wear.

Caring for your saree

Zari sarees last for years with a little care: dry clean only, store folded in soft cotton or muslin away from damp, and refold every few months so the zari doesn't crease along the same lines.
